cactusMar. 6, Sun.--Rained hard last night--there is some shower on Scherum's Peak--am at Mrs. Crider's--''Will' went back to the cabin yesterday for another load--back today--John and Tom came this evening--coming before reaching the Indians which had some trouble locating--at last saw squaw sitting beside a big rock which hid her from the tents--with quite a small child in front of her over which she was leaning with her hands supporting it--and she making her sorrowful lament--the child was sick and she was lamenting for its cure---would perhaps keep it up days and nights.

Mar. 8--Very warm--arms so sore can hardly move them--baked and washed--with Tom having to soak.

Mar. 9--Tom and 'Will' took first load of lumber to the ranch--John into the night hours.

Mar. 10--Very warm--boys only got the road fixed yesterday--got the first load over today--did not get back till late--it is ten miles and they had road to break.

Mar. 11--John and Tom went to haul 'Will' to Park--only got a few letters--one from Maj--John and Tom only got part way--Tom got me a horned toad. Mr. Lewis brought us some very fine specimens.

Mar. 12--Baked bread and pies--Tom and 'Will' went to Kingman for more doors and windows, more grub--our neighbor, Mr. Hart, quite sick from powder smoke.

Mar. 19--Very high wind last night--'Will' started early for another load of boards--John and Tom cleared a place for corral 40X60 ft.--baked pies and wrote letters to Bruce [son] and Earl.

Mar, 20, Sun.--Sun hot but cool breeze--went to top of highest mountain--to look--opera glasses--could see great way down the valley--and look down on many mountains--found new varieties of flowers--also head, horns and vertabra of mountain sheep--brought them down to cabin--the mountain was high and steep. 'Will' went to Park.

Mar. 21--Cooler--men worked at house--Tom went to Point for load of boards--'Will' and Tom to the I.X.L.

Mar. 22--Baked--very high wind--washed this afternoon--went to the low divide this afternoon--got some broken Indian pottery--boys came home.

Mar. 23--Men working on house--laying floor--baked pies and bread--have a young dog--'Will' got it in Park--shepherd afraid of coyote getting him--Indian Dick here today hunting horses.

Mar. 24--Windy but pleasant--men roofing house--baked bread and worked at rug--pressed soke [?] flowers.

Mar. 25--Finished rug--baked pies and went for flowers--so many nice ones. Tom went to I.X.L.--wrote a letter to Lill [daughter] this evening--cool when the sun goes down.

Mar. 31--Very pleasant out but look for rain--men finishing house--made curtain and cords--and tassels for others.
